SJMH’s Susan Carpenter provides compassionate care to cardiac rehab patients
Cardiac Rehabilitation’s Susan Carpenter has been selected as Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital Employee of the Month for June 2019. She began employment at the hospital in 1999 in the Physical Therapy Department.
She and her husband, Kevin, live on Sauls Run Road with their canine companions — two Jack Russells named Butchie and Scrappy, and Si, the Rottweiler. Susan has one daughter, Melissa Leavitt, of Weston, who is a private home health-care giver.
Susan, originally from Ohio, is the daughter of Ethel and the late John Snyder of Wooster. Her father was originally from Weston, and Susan came to this area because of the family connection.
Susan’s nominator wrote: “Susan is a hard worker who provides excellent care to every patient, every time. She is kind, professional, compassionate and goes above and beyond when caring for our stress test patients and out-patient rehab clients.”
Physical Therapy director Matt DeGarmo noted, “Susan is an excellent team member and would be a fantastic choice for this honor.”
Susan was pleased with the nomination and noted, “Thank you for nominating me for Employee of the Month. It was a nice surprise, and I am grateful. I have always believed that the people you work with are what make the job worthwhile. I have co-workers here who make each day a new adventure. It is nice to come to work each day. I feel so fortunate to have a job that I thoroughly enjoy.”
In her spare time, she enjoys nature and being outdoors. Boating at Stonewall Lake with her family is especially nice, she said.
